Emmett Little League Baseball is comprised of five divisions.   Division of Play is determined based on league age and assessed skill level.  The purpose of our Player Assessments (Tryouts) is to help our managers draft our players to teams that are developmentally appropriate.  

AA Minors

Teams shall consist of players who are league age 8 through 11.  This division of baseball focuses on developing the fundamentals of the game and sportsmanship, and less on the competitive aspects (than the Majors Division) of the game.  Players often rotate positions.  This is a player-to-player pitched game. Teams will travel throughout the Treasure Valley to play interleague games, but usually only on Saturdays (possible Friday).     There will be an end-of-season tournament.

AAA Minors

Teams shall consist of players who are league age 8 through 11.  This division of baseball continues to focus on developing the fundamentals of the game and sportsmanship.  This division is more competitive than AA, as base running, hitting, pitching, and fielding become more aggressive and skilled.  Rotating positions may continue at this level, although some specialization may occur.  Teams will travel throughout the Treasure Valley to play interleague games, but usually only on Saturdays (possible Friday). Travel for games on weekdays is possible.There will be an end-of-season tournament.

Majors

Teams shall consist of players who are league age 11 through 12 (possibly 10).   The player at this level has attained solid baseball knowledge and skills necessary for baseball play in a competitive environment. Players at this level play a more traditional type baseball game.   While games are competitive in nature, sportsmanship and skill development remain paramount. Teams will travel throughout the Treasure Valley to play interleague games.  Majors focuses on advanced skill development and preparation for higher level play.   There will be an end-of-season tournament.

Intermediate (50/70)
The difference between Majors (46/60) and Intermediate (50/70) is the distance from home plate to the pitching rubber and base paths.  The Major’s pitching distance is 46 feet and base path distance is 60 feet while Intermediate’s pitching distance is 48.5 feet and the base path distance is 70 feet. Many of the Senior League rules will be used such as runners being permitted to lead off bases, runners may attempt to steal at any time, and allowing an on-deck batter.

 Team shall consist of players who are league age 11 through 13. Intermediate division players should demonstrate skill, leadership, and maturity while enhancing all skills, rules knowledge, and situational baseball play in a competitive environment.  Teams will travel throughout the Treasure Valley to play interleague games. There will be an end-of-season tournament.

Seniors

Teams shall consist of players league age 13 through 16.  Seniors is played on a full-sized field with 90-foot bases and a 60- foot mound (just like Major League Baseball).  Seniors division players should demonstrate skill, leadership, and maturing while enhancing all skills, rules knowledge, and situational baseball play in a competitive environment.  Teams will travel throughout the Treasure Valley to play interleague games.  There will be an end-of-season tournament.
